AUBURN, Ala., June 10 (UPI) -- The Alabama man who poisoned the iconic Toomer's Oaks on the Auburn University campus was released on probation after serving 180 days in jail.

Harvey Updyke Jr., 64, pleaded guilty March 22 to one count of unlawful damage of an animal or crop facility. He received a six-month jail sentence as part of a three-year split sentence.
