Kardashian divorce trial date set

LOS ANGELES, April 13 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles judge has set a May start date for the divorce trial of television personality Kim Kardashian and NBA player Kris Humphries.

Before the divorce trial begins May 6, however, Humphries faces a hearing next week on possible sanctions, after he missed Friday's mandatory hearing in Los Angeles, E! News reported.

Humphries' legal team said he was a no-show due to airline delays. Humphries is based on the East Coast where he plays for the Brooklyn Nets.

Kardashian did not disappoint either the judge or the army of entertainment media mustered outside the courthouse Friday. She reported on time and dressed to the nines, and waited patiently in the courtroom for the proceedings to start, E! News said.

Friday's hearing was a mandatory settlement conference intended to avoid a trial. The media was excluded from the actual hearing.
