Texas man accused of killing babysitter

IRVING, Texas, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Capital murder charges have been filed against a Texas man in the death of a teenage girl whose body was dumped near a river, authorities said.

An arrest warrant states Franklin Davis, 30, of Irving, Texas, told police he lured Shania Gray, 16, away from Hebron High School, shot her and then stepped on her neck until she stopped breathing, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram reported Tuesday.

The teenage girl, who reportedly worked as a babysitter for the Davis family, had accused Davis of sexual assault in 2010.

In a jailhouse interview, Davis said he wanted Gray to recant the sexual-assault allegations.

He said he contacted Gray through social media, pretended to be someone else and arranged to meet her at school.

The arrest warrant affidavit said Davis led investigators to where he said he killed Gray and to a pond where a gun was found.
