MILWAUKEE, May 1 (UPI) -- Police are investigating two separate car accidents in Milwaukee, which took the lives of a mother and son.

Mary Moore, 45, was run over as she was lying in the road around 1 a.m. Sunday. Hours later, as her 22-year-old son was driving to the hospital to check on her, he was killed when his vehicle was overturned. Thomas Olson, the passenger in the other car involved in that accident, was killed as well. Police suspect alcohol in both accidents, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.

While police are unaware of why Moore was lying in the road, the driver who ran her over was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident. The driver in the accident which killed Moore's son was also arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Two other passengers in the car suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
