Romney knocks Obama for 'weak' jobs report

WASHINGTON, April 6 (UPI) -- Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney Friday attacked U.S. President Barack Obama for what he called a "weak and very troubling jobs report" for March.

The Labor Department said Friday the U.S. economy added 120,000 jobs in March, down from 240,000 in February, and the unemployment rate went from 8.3 percent to 8.2 percent.

"This is a weak and very troubling jobs report that shows the employment market remains stagnant," Romney said in a statement. "Millions of Americans are paying a high price for President Obama's economic policies, and more and more people are growing so discouraged that they are dropping out of the labor force altogether."

Romney has often argued that as the former chief executive of Bain Capital, he is better equipped than Obama to handle the country's economic crisis, The New York Times reported.

"It is increasingly clear the Obama economy is not working and that after three years in office the president's excuses have run out," Romney said in the statement.
