Aides: Obama to address Ryan budget

WASHINGTON, April 2 (UPI) -- President Obama will discuss the differences between his and Rep. Paul Ryan's budgets, senior administration officials in Washington said.

Obama will lay out the disparities during a speech during the American Society of Newspaper Editors convention in Washington, The Hill reported Monday.

Senior administration officials said Obama will review his own proposal, while explaining why he disagrees with the approach taken by the Republican congressman from Wisconsin who is the House Budget Committee chairman.

The Republican-led House approved the Ryan budget plan last week. It would cut $5.3 trillion in spending, without a single Democratic vote. Democrats said the measure would provide disproportionate tax breaks to corporations and the wealthy, reduce social safety nets, and change Medicare for the worse.

Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney, who endorsed the Ryan proposal, will address the convention Wednesday.
