Poll: Santorum leads in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Rick Santorum has a two-to-one lead over his closest rival in the Oklahoma GOP primary, while Newt Gingrich holds a narrow lead in Georgia, polls suggest.

The Rasmussen Reports survey shows Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, with the support of 43 percent of likely Oklahoma Republican primary voters. Gingrich, a former U.S. House speaker, has 22 percent and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has 18 percent. U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas came in fourth with 7 percent. Seven percent of voters said they were undecided and 2 percent said they preferred some other candidate.

The Rasmussen Reports survey of 750 likely voters was conducted by Pulse Opinion Research on Tuesday. The margin of error was 4 percentage points.

The Georgia survey of 721 likely voters, conducted by InsiderAdvantage for WAGA-TV, Atlanta, on Monday, found Gingrich has the lead in his home state with 26 percent. Romney was second with 24 percent and Santorum had 23 percent. Paul was also fourth in the Georgia race, with 12 percent.

The margin of sampling error was 3.6 percentage points, the Web site southernpoliticalreport.com said Wednesday.
