Obama to visit Australia in November

WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- President Obama will visit Australia in November to mark the 60th anniversary of the U.S.-Australia alliance, the White House said.

Obama was invited by Prime Minister Julia Gillard to visit Australia Nov. 16-17 after he hosts the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders meeting in Hawaii, the White House said in a release.

The trip to Australia will provide the two leaders a chance to build on the APEC agenda and expand cooperative efforts to increase global economic growth, trade and jobs, the White House said.

After his trip to Australia, Obama will attend the East Asia Summit to be held later that week in Bali, Indonesia, the White House said.
