Dougherty gang awaits Colorado charges

PUEBLO, Colo., Aug. 16 (UPI) -- The Colorado county where the Dougherty siblings were arrested will most likely be the one to file criminal charges in the case, a prosecutor said.

Deputy District Attorney James Coursey told a Pueblo County judge the case against the three Florida siblings would be turned over to Huerfano County, The Pueblo (Colo.) Chieftain reported Tuesday.

Lee Grace Dougherty, 29, and her brothers Dylan, 26, and Ryan, 21, were caught in Colorado last week after a nationwide search that began after the shooting of a Florida police officer and the robbery of a Georgia bank.

Authorities said the police chase in Colorado had crossed the Pueblo County line into Huerfano County.

"We've spent a great deal of time discussing this, and we believe the more appropriate venue is Huerfano County," Coursey told District Judge Thomas Flesher Monday.

Defense attorney Michael Emmons told the judge Ryan Dougherty suffered a concussion during his capture last week and was not receiving treatment at the Pueblo County Jail.

Lee Dougherty was shot in the leg during her capture and did not appear in court Monday.
