Police lock down clinic, find no gunman

FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- A lockdown at a Texas health clinic Friday began with a telephone call about a man with a gun and ended when no gunman was found, Fort Worth police said.

The John Peter Smith Health Center was shut down for about four hours, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

A SWAT team and hostage negotiators were sent to the clinic after the 8 a.m. telephone call, police said. The caller claimed a man had come to the clinic with a "long gun."

Employees locked themselves into a secure area at the clinic. Just before noon, police searched the clinic and turned up nothing suspicious.
