Home invader flees, shoots, kills self

TOWSON, Md., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- A man who broke into a home in a Baltimore suburb Friday took his own life after a woman in the house returned his fire and wounded him, police said.

Lt. Robert McCullough said Baltimore County Police got a call at about 9 a.m. EST about a burglary in Glen Arm, about 15 miles north of Baltimore, The Baltimore Sun reported. The female homeowner said she surprised an intruder who began firing an AK-47.

The woman said the shots missed her, but she returned fire and wounded the intruder, who then fled.

The man, who was wearing camouflage clothing, drove his Chevy pickup truck about 2 miles to a restaurant parking lot and then shot himself in the head.
