Obama hosting lawmakers, Olympians

WASHINGTON, April 21 (UPI) -- After meeting with lawmakers about Supreme Court nominees Wednesday, U.S. President Barack Obama is to welcome G-20 officials and Olympians.

At the bipartisan morning meeting, closed to the press, Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and senators are to talk about filling the high court vacancy left by retiring Justice John Paul Stevens.

Wednesday afternoon, the president, along with Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, will attend a reception for G-20 labor ministers in the White House Diplomatic Reception Room. The event is also closed.

Later, the president and first lady Michelle Obama are to host members of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams on the State Floor in the White House. The first lady is expected to tout her campaign against childhood obesity.

Obama and Biden also are also to meet privately in separate Oval Office meetings with Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
