Zardari, Obama to meet in Washington

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, May 3 (UPI) -- Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari says he will focus on strengthening relations with the United States when he travels to Washington this week.

Zardari is to hold a summit Wednesday and Thursday with U.S. President Barack Obama and Afghani President Hamid Karzai.

It will be Zardari's first official meeting with Obama, Xinhua, China's state run news agency reported Sunday.

Zardari also is to meet with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Robert Gates, a statement from Zadari's office said.
