PRINCETON, N.J., March 24 (UPI) -- U.S. presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., narrowly leads rival Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., among Democrats, a poll released Monday said.
The latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking update indicates Obama leads Clinton 48 percent to 45 percent.
Gallup's tracking poll last week showed Clinton ahead of Obama in a week where the Illinois senator was dogged in the media for his association with the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
The poll of 1,264 Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters was conducted March 19-March 21. It has a maximum margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
In a hypothetical general election match ups with Arizona Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, McCain leads both Clinton and Obama by two points, Gallup found.
The results are based on combined data from March 17 to March 21 from a sample of 4,376 registered voters. The maximum margin of sampling error is plus or minus 2 percentage points.
