TEHRAN, March 25 (UPI) -- European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana is ready to push for new talks with Iran about its uranium enrichment program.
Solana said Sunday he planned to contact senior Iranian negotiator Ali Larijani about setting up the discussions. He said he wanted to "see if we can find a route that would allow us to go into negotiations," the BBC reported Sunday.
Iran has denounced the U.N. Security Council for imposing tougher sanctions over its refusal to stop nuclear enrichment. Tehran said it would not be coerced into dropping its peaceful nuclear efforts by "pressure and intimidation."
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said he would not return to talks unless the European Union and United States drop their demands.
