Polish P.M. attacks exhibt on expulsions

BERLIN, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- An exhibit on the expulsion of Germans from Poland and other Eastern European countries has annoyed Polish leaders.

Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski criticized the exhibit during a visit to a World War II concentration camp, the BBC reported.

"It's important to remember who were the murderers and who were the victims," he said.

The Federation of the Expelled, headed by Erika Steinbach, plans to create a permanent exhibit in Germany. The government of former Chancellor Gerhardt Schroeder opposed the plan, but Chancellor Angela Merkel has not taken sides yet.

The federation has said it is not pushing for compensation for people expelled from Eastern Europe, a move that the BBC said would undoubtedly sour Germany's relationships with its eastern neighbors.
