EU's Solana to talk nukes in Tehran

TEHRAN, June 5 (UPI) -- EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana was set Monday to deliver Iran incentives on curtailing its uranium enrichment program.

Solana met with Palestinian officials in Ramallah early Monday, and then flew to Tehran with the package hammered out in Vienna last week by the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany.

His visit comes one day after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a Tehran speech that oil supplies from Iran, the world's fourth-largest producer, "will be definitely jeopardized" if the United States continued its campaign for U.N. sanctions.

He also dismissed the promise of fuel supplies to Iran's nuclear plants from other countries, which is said to be part of the offer Solana is delivering, the Financial Times reported.

Khamenei said no "honest" official would agree to forgo nuclear technology and "beg" western nations for energy.
