Johanna Konta of Great Britain completed her run to the championship at the Miami Open on Saturday, knocking off former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets.

The 10th-seeded Konta became the first British woman to win a Premier Mandatory event with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over No. 12-seeded Wozniacki.

"The crowd is incredible; it's a pleasure to play here," Konta said after the match.

Konta, who reached the final by derailing Venus Williams' title bid in the semis, needed 95 minutes to beat Wozniacki for the second time in as many career meetings.

It was the second title of the season for Konta, who will climb to a career-high No. 7 in the rankings next week. She also won at the Apia International Sydney earlier this year.

Konta had 33 services winners and five aces while breaking Wozniacki's serve six times in the match. Konta dominated their first meeting this year at the Australian Open, 6-3, 6-1.

Wozniacki committed two double-faults in the ninth game of the first set before Konta closed it out after saving a pair of break points.

Konta fell behind for the only time in the match at 2-1 in the second set, but won the final four games to drop Wozniacki to 0-3 in title matches this year.

Wozniacki, a Denmark native and part-time resident of Miami who also lost in finals at Doha and Dubai, became the fourth active player on the WTA Tour to reach 45 career finals.

"Thank you for cheering me on all week," Wozniacki said. "I felt like this was my home crowd."
