No. 2 seed Serena Williams continued her quest for her 23rd Grand Slam trophy, easily dismissing fellow American Nicole Gibbs 6-2, 6-3 in the third round of the Australian Open in Melbourne, Australia, on Saturday.
Williams, who has yet to drop a set in Melbourne, needed just over an hour to defeat Gibbs and the six-time Australian Open winner moves on to play No. 16 Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic after she beat France's Caroline Garcia, the 21st seed, 6-2, 7-5.
