Adrian Peterson: New York Giants to 'take look,' Tampa Bay Buccaneers not expected to pursue

March 1 (UPI) -- Last month All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson mentioned the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Giants among teams that he was interested in.

At least one of those franchises is willing to explore signing the soon-to-be 32-year-old, according to reports.

SNY NFL Insider Ralph Vacchiano reported Wednesday that the Giants will "take a look" at the former NFL MVP.

"You know what? We'll go take a look at him," Giants coach Ben McAdoo told Vacchiano. "We'll evaluate him. We'll get a grade on anyone who's available and we'll make those decisions in terms of what's best for the Giants moving forward."

The Vikings decided not to pick up Peterson's option for 2017 on Tuesday. Since then, speculation has swirled about where the running back will play next season. He officially becomes an unrestricted free agent on March 9. The Giants released veteran Rashad Jennings on Feb. 13. Paul Perkins currently sits atop the team's depth chart at running back.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler nearly ruled out the possibility of Peterson joining the Buccaneers.

Two sources told Fowler that the Bucs are not "expected to aggressively pursue Peterson."

Doug Martin, 28, is a former All-Pro in his own right. The running back is also unsigned for 2017, but there have been contradictory reports about if he will stay with the Buccaneers or become a free agent.
