Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team never considered inserting Tony Romo into Sunday night's loss for struggling quarterback Dak Prescott.

Prescott had the worst game of his rookie season during the 10-7 loss to the New York Giants that snapped the Cowboys' 11-game winning streak.

"No. No. No. No," Jones said after the game when asked if a switch was needed. "No, it does not.

"I think we've seen Dak have bad series and seen him have what I'd call challenging series and we've seen him come back and right the ship. Certainly, we have no expectation that we won't come back. I'd rather have had the chance to get better with us winning it, but we're not going to take where we are right now and let this do anything but improve us."

Prescott completed 17 of 37 passes for 165 yards, with two interceptions. He had season-low 45.4 passer rating. The Cowboys converted just 1 of 15 third-down opportunities.

Jones said his confidence level in Prescott remains high.

"Outstanding," Jones said. "He's got 13 NFL ballgames at a high level under his belt and what's he got, four interceptions now? Four? So four interceptions. I feel good about our quarterback and I like where we are at the quarterback position. We should have asked and wanted him to make the drive that might have won this thing for us tonight. I don't want to make excuses. Most of what happened to us tonight was a well-coached New York Giants defense."

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett also said he never considered trying to get a spark from the 36-year-old Romo, who lost the starting job to Prescott while recovering from a fractured bone in his back.

"We just feel good about where Dak is right now," Garrett said.

"There were some tight throws to be made. At times we made some of those throws. At other times we didn't. At times we made some contested catches. At other times we didn't. Obviously as we go forward we have to continue to improve in that area."

The Giants made three sacks and put pressure on Prescott that forced the two picks.

"It's a bad feeling but it gets you resettled, gets you back right," Prescott said Sunday night. "After we lost to these guys the first time, we went on that run. Maybe we can do something similar."
