Odell Beckham Jr.'s celebration costs him

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will have to pay for taking his helmet off during a touchdown celebration last Sunday in a game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The NFL fined him $24,309 on Friday after his "marriage proposal" to the kicking net on the Giants' sideline in MetLife Stadium.

After Beckham scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 66-yard pass with 1:24 remaining in the Giants' 27-23 win over the Ravens, Beckham ran to the sideline, threw his helmet off and continued to celebrate, capping an eight-catch, 222-yard receiving day.

"Our relationship is growing," Beckham said of the net. "I thought we might as well make it serious. I proposed and she said yes. Me and the net are going to get married sometime soon. Hopefully it all works out. I'm 23, so I don't know much about marriage. She seems like a pretty nice gal."

The NFL also announced a number of other fines:

Detroit Lions safety Glover Quin was fined the same amount as Beckham for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Los Angeles wide receiver Tavon Austin.

Washington Redskins tight end Vernon Davis was fined $12,154 for a touchdown celebration.

Tennessee Titans safety Daimion Stafford was fined $18,231 for a horse-collar tackle on Cleveland's Terrelle Pryor.

Kawann Short of the Carolina Panthers was fined $18,231 for a personal foul penalty.

Miami offensive tackle ja'Wuan James and running backs Jay Ajayi and Damien Williams were fined $12,154 for unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

New England tight end Rob Gronkowski (taunting) and running back LeGarrette Blount (unnecessary roughness), Buffalo running back LeSean McCoy (facemask), Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins (facemask) and Washington defensive tackle Fletcher Cox (roughing the passer) were eachl fined $9,115.
