Jordan apologizes to Cuban

DeAndre Jordan reached out to Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban with an apology after backing off an oral commitment to sign as a free agent with the Mavs and instead re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.

"I want to publicly apologize to one of the best owners in the world @MCuban, the @DallasMavs and their fans," Jordan tweeted Friday. "I am humbled by @DallasMavs & @MCuban kindness and understanding. I am sorry to have a change of heart."

Cuban told ESPN.com that he still had not talked directly to Jordan since Tuesday night. Jordan had agreed to a four-year max contract with the Mavs last week but decided this week to stay with the Clippers.

Jordan's new contract with the Clippers is estimated to be worth $88 million with an opt-out after three years.

Clippers teammates Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and Paul Pierce traveled to Jordan's home in Houston on Wednesday along with coach Doc Rivers and owner Steve Ballmer to attempt to persuade him to change his mind. Once they were successful, the Clippers didn't leave his side until the midnight Thursday deadline when free agents could officially sign new contracts.

Jordan left Thursday for a cruise after reaching the deal with the Clippers and was ready to move on, tweeting Friday, "Let's get back to talking about basketball and winning games in 2015. Thank You! #ClipperNation @clippersteveb #Home"
