Free-agent center DeAndre Jordan apparently changed his mind and decided to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers rather than follow through on his oral commitment to join the Dallas Mavericks.

ESPN reported Wednesday night that the Clippers were staying at Jordan's home in Houston until the midnight league moratorium ended and free agents could officially sign contracts.

According to multiple reports, the Mavericks abandoned their pursuit of Jordan during the evening.

Jordan agreed last week to a four-year, $80 million deal with the Mavericks. Team owner Mark Cuban and Jordan's agents apparently were rebuffed in their attempts to meet with Jordan at his home in Houston on Wednesday in a last-ditch effort to keep Jordan from backing out of his previous commitment.

Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, coach Doc Rivers and four players met with Jordan on Wednesday in Houston, according to the Los Angeles Times. The players were Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Paul Pierce and J.J. Redick.

The meeting with the Clippers was initiated after Jordan contacted Rivers on Monday night, according to the Los Angeles Times.
