Dreadlocked German Dustin Brown turned in one of the best matches and biggest victories of his career Thursday and took down two-time Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Centre Court at the All England Club.

Nadal, seeded 10th, is 0-2 against Brown on the grass court.

Brown burst to the first set victory with measurable energy, but needed stamina to hold of Nadal as the Spaniard found his form in the third and fourth set.

"Being on grass and having beaten him before made me feel more comfortable. I had nothing to lose, which made it easier for me. I went for my shots," said Brown, who entered the week ranked 102nd in the world.

Andy Murray, the 2013 men's singles champion, sailed into the third round in another tidy match, 6-1, 6-1, 6-4 over Robin Haase.
