Lions won't tag Suh

The Detroit Lions apparently won't place their franchise tag on defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

According to the club's website, Suh will not receive the designation and will be allowed to become a free agent. The franchise tag would have cost the Lions $26.8 million for the 2015 season.

The 28-year-old Nebraska product started all 78 games he played for the Lions since being selected with the second overall pick of the 2010 draft. The only two games he has missed during his career came because of a suspension for stomping on Green Bay's Evan Dietrich-Smith during a Thanksgiving Day game in 2011.

Suh is a four-time Pro Bowl selection with 36 career sacks and 239 tackles, but has also been known as a somewhat dirty player. He has been fined numerous times for his on-field actions.
