DALLAS, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Donatas Motiejunas gave Houston a seven-point lead with 1:20 to play Wednesday and even though they did not score again the Rockets held off Dallas 117-115.

The Mavericks stormed back during the final minute and closed within two when Dirk Nowitzki hit two free throws with 22 seconds remaining.

Houston's Aaron Brooks then turned the ball over, but Dallas was unable to capitalize on the mistake. A 3-point attempt by Jose Calderon just before the buzzer misfired.

Chandler Parsons scored 26 points for Houston, which defeated San Antonio and Dallas on back-to-back nights. The Rockets have won five out of seven.

Seven Houston players scored in double figures with Dwight Howard reaching 21 points and Jeremy Lin recording 18. James Harden missed his second straight game with a bruised thumb.

The Rockets overcame 38 points and 17 rebounds from Nowitzki. Dallas has lost three out of four.
