NEW YORK, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Philipp Grubauer stopped 30 shots in notching his first career NHL victory Sunday, backstopping the Washington Capitals over the New York Rangers 4-1.
Grubauer had a shutout until Benoit Pouliot got New York's only goal with 1:53 remaining in the contest, settling for his initial victory in his second career start and fourth appearance overall.

Mikhail Grabovski scored on a penalty shot and Eric Fehr, Jason Chimera and Steve Oleksy each added a goal for the Capitals.
Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves for the Rangers, who dropped a second straight.
