NBA: Washington 116, Philadelphia 102

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- John Wall made five of Washington's 18 3-pointers Wednesday in leading the Wizards to their first win of the season, 116-102 over Philadelphia.

Washington had dropped its first three contests of the year, but held the 76ers scoreless for a five-minute stretch in the second half to break open the game.

After winning its first three games of the year, Philadelphia has dropped two in a row. Both of those losses have come at home.

Wall delivered 24 points and nine assists, making 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Washington's 18 3-pointers came on 33 shots.

Washington let a large second-half lead get away in a loss to Philadelphia last Friday and Coach Randy Wittman was critical of his team's defense after that game. The salty language he used in his tirade drew a $20,000 fine from the NBA.

Marcin Gortat added 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Wizards, Bradley Beal scored 17 points and Trevor Ariza had 15.

Philadelphia was paced by Evan Turner with 24 points and Spencer Hawes with 23.
