VIRGINIA WATER, England, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Dustin Johnson improves to No. 12 in the men's world golf rankings after his victory at the WGC-HSBC Championships tournament in Shanghai.

Johnson closed strong Sunday, going 5-under-par in a late five-hole span, and beat defending champion Ian Poulter by three strokes.

That lifts Johnson 11 places in the rankings to 12th.

Phil Mickelson, who was one of the runners-up last year in Shanghai to Poulter, was 14th this year. That allowed Henrik Stenson to move past Mickelson for the No. 3 ranking.

That was the only change in the Top 10.

The PGA Tour is already playing its 2014 schedule but the European Tour has two prime events remaining on its 2013 calendar. There is the Turkish Airlines Open this week in Antalya, Turkey, followed by the DP World Tour Championship in the United Arab Emirates Nov. 14-17.

The men's world golf Top 10, listing player's name, home country and rankings point average:
