Cabrera-Bello catches Guthrie for BMW Masters lead in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Rafael Cabrera-Bello used a strong finish Saturday in joining Luke Guthrie for the lead with one round to play at the European Tour's BMW Masters in Shanghai.

Cabrera-Bello started the third round five strokes back of Guthrie but had a bogey-free 5-under-par 67 Saturday. Guthrie fought through an up-and-down, even-par 72 that ended with an 18th-hole bogey that dropped him to 8-under 208 and tied with Cabrera-Bello.

Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano is in third at 7-under and Gregory Bourdy is two strokes off the lead. They both shot 68 Saturday. Paul Casey, Scott Jamieson and Craig Lee, who all were 1-under on the day, are tied for fifth at 5-under.

Cabrera-Bello, still recovering from an opening round of 73, opened play Saturday with back-to-back birdies and added two more at Nos. 7 and 11. His tee shot at the par-3 17th stopped 3 feet from the hole and he had an up-and-down from a greenside sand trap on 18 to complete his 67.

Guthrie had a healthy four-stroke lead after Friday's play and was 2-under through eight holes Saturday. He had a bogey at No. 9 but got that back with a birdie at 10. He had another bogey-birdie pair at 12 and 13 but fell back to Cabrera-Bello's score with bogeys at 16 and 18.
