MLB: Philadelphia 5, Milwaukee 1

MILWAUKEE, June 6 (UPI) -- Tyler Cloyd threw 6 2/3 shutout innings Thursday and Delmon Young highlighted Philadelphia's offense with a homer in a 5-1 triumph over Milwaukee.

The Phillies won their fifth in a row, jumping to a 4-0 lead through three innings and easily holding off the struggling Brewers.

Cloyd (2-2) made his fifth start of the year and his 11th in parts of two seasons with the Phillies. He gave up four hits and walked five. Three relievers combined to allow a run on a hit the rest of the way.

Ryan Howard's sacrifice fly opened the scoring in the first. John Mayberry scored a first-inning run and drove in another with a double in the second. Young's homer, his sixth, came in the fifth inning.

Wily Peralta (4-7) took the loss, giving up all five runs on seven hits in five innings.
