Schiavone reaches Moroccan Grand Prix finals

MARRAKECH, Morocco, April 27 (UPI) -- Sixth-seeded Francesca Schiavone of Italy defeated Chanelle Scheepers in straight sets in the semifinals of the Moroccan Grand Prix Saturday.

The South African Scheepers gave the former French Open champion a battle in the first set, but Schiavone took control in the second and advanced to Sunday's final 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.

Schiavone will face Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain Sunday. Dominguez Lino advanced Saturday with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 win over Mandy Minella of Luxembourg.
