BOSTON, April 11 (UPI) -- Josh Bailey scored twice Thursday in helping carry the New York Islanders to their third straight victory, 2-1 over Boston.
The Islanders have won eight out of 10 to move into the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference standings. They are in good shape to earn their first post-season berth in six years. Boston has lost back-to-back games and missed out on a chance to clinch a spot in the playoffs.
Evgeni Nabokov made 30 saves to get the win, allowing only a goal to Tyler Seguin on the power play early in the second period.
Seguin's goal brought about a 1-1 tie, but Bailey put the Islanders in front for good on a slap shot with 6:48 to go in the middle period. His first goal came with 21 seconds remaining in the opening stanza.
