NEWARK, N.J., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Martin Brodeur logged a shutout Tuesday -- the 120th of his career -- backstopping New Jersey to a 3-0 decision over Philadelphia in the Devils' home opener.

Brodeur turned aside all 24 shots he faced for the defending Eastern Conference champion Devils, who moved to 2-0 on the season following a Saturday defeat of the New York Islanders.

Ilya Kovalchuk notched two points with a goal and an assist and New Jersey also got markers from David Clarkson and Travis Zajac in the win.

The Flyers, meanwhile, dropped a third straight to begin a season for the first since the NHL's last lockout-shortened campaign in 1995.

Ilya Bryzgalov made 23 saves for Philadelphia.
