NHL: New York Rangers 1, Ottawa 0

OTTAWA, April 16 (UPI) -- Henrik Lundqvist notched a 39-save shutout Monday, backstopping the New York Rangers to a 1-0 win over Ottawa and a lead in their first-round playoff series.

Lundqvist, who notched the fourth post-season shutout of his career, turned aside 14 shots in the final period for the Rangers, who bounced back from a 3-2 overtime loss Saturday to grab a 2-games-to-1 lead in the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.

The Swedish netminder made two key saves early in the third on Ottawa's Colin Greening to preserve New York's lead.

Brian Boyle provided the game's only goal 7:35 into the third period, scoring on a backhand shot from in close on assists from Ryan Callahan and Dan Girardi. It was Boyle's third tally of the series.

Craig Anderson stopped 22 shots for the Senators, who will host Game 4 Wednesday.
