COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Jamie Benn scored the game's first and last goals Thursday and Kari Lehtonen made 26 saves in bringing Dallas a 4-2 win over Columbus.
The Stars built a 3-0 lead early in the second period and then hung on for their fourth win in six games. Columbus missed a chance for what would have been its first three-game winning streak of the season, having recorded an NHL-low 15 victories.
Benn tallied just 95 seconds into the game, Alex Goligoski added a first-period goal and Stephane Robidas scored early in the second.
Dallas committed just three penalties, all of them coming in the second period. They led to power-play goals by Vinny Prospal and Rick Nash that gave the Blue Jackets a chance for a comeback.
After Nash scored with 7:48 to go in the middle period, neither side could produce a goal until Benn put one into an empty net with a second remaining in the contest.
Curtis Sanford stopped 31 shots for Columbus.
