Hantuchova wins Thai second-round match

PATTAYA CITY, Thailand, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- No. 3-seeded Daniela Hantuchova posted one of four straight-set wins Thursday in the second round of the PTT Pattaya Open tennis tournament in Thailand.

Hantuchova defeated Urszula Radwanska 6-3, 6-2 behind a solid serving game. Hantuchova lost just 15 points in nine service games, dropping serve once. She claimed 52 percent of the points when receiving in converting four breaks.

Eighth-seeded Vania King advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Alla Kudryavtseva with a total of six breaks in eight receiving games. She won 60 percent of the points off Kudryavtseva's serve.

Qualifier Hsieh Su-Wei topped Kimiko Date-Krumm 7-5, 6-0, losing just 12 points in the second set. Also Thursday, Sania Mirza ousted Anne Keothavong 6-4, 7-5 with a pair of breaks in each set.

Hantuchova draws King and Hsieh will go against Mirza in Friday's quarterfinals in the lower half of the draw. The other quarterfinal matchups have top-seeded Vera Zvonareva playing No. 7-seeded Sorana Cirstea and fourth-seeded Maria Kirilenko facing local favorite Tamarine Tanasugarn.
