NHL: Chicago 4, San Jose 3

CHICAGO, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Jonathan Toews netted the go-ahead goal and added an assist Sunday in the Chicago Blackhawks' 4-3 victory over San Jose.

Sharks goalie Antti Niemi came out of the net to play the puck early in the second period but was caught out of position when Patrick Kane got control of it.

Kane zipped a pass to Toews in the crease and the Chicago captain poked it past the scrambling Niemi, putting the Blackhawks ahead for good at 3-2.

Viktor Stallberg also notched a goal and an assist, while Dave Bolland and Andrew Shaw each found the net for Chicago, which grabbed a two-point lead atop the Central Division standings.

Corey Crawford earned the victory with 21 saves. Niemi turned aside 36-of-40 shots for the Pacific Division-leading Sharks.

Joe Pavelski, Jamie McGinn and Tommy Wingels scored for San Jose.
