Butler then skated in on Jhonas Enroth, faked him to the ice and popped a backhander into the upper corner of the net for the decisive tally as the Sens beat the Sabres for the third time in December.

Matt Carkner and Chris Neil scored in regulation and Craig Anderson stopped 26-of-28 shots in Ottawa's win.

Boyes and Paul Gaustad netted regulation-time goals for the Sabres.

Enroth finished with 44 saves but was saddled with the loss.
