NHL: Phoenix 4, Chicago 1

CHICAGO, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Mike Smith made 24 saves and nearly chalked up a shutout Tuesday in the Phoenix Coyotes' 4-1 win over Chicago.

Smith kept the Blackhawks off the scoreboard until Patrick Sharp scored with 43 seconds remaining in the game.

Ray Whitney had a goal and two assists for the Coyotes, who have won their last two games. Daymond Langkow, Shane Doan and Radim Vrbata accounted for the other Phoenix goals.

Corey Crawford made 17 saves on 21 shots for Chicago. Ray Emery played the final 15 minutes and stopped all three shots he faced.

The Coyotes led 1-0 after one period and made it 2-0 in the second on Doan's goal at 9:15. Vrbata and Whitney scored early in the third period and the Coyotes held on despite being outshot 10-8 in the final period.
