NHL: San Jose 4, Los Angeles 2

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Patrick Marleau registered a goal and two assists Monday and the San Jose Sharks rode four unanswered goals to a 4-2 win over Los Angeles.

The Kings' Jack Johnson scored on a power play 6 minutes in the the second period to break a scoreless tie, but the Sharks then reeled off the next four goals to put the contest away.

Marleau's tally 12:35 into the frame put San Jose ahead for good, while Joe Thornton, Dan Boyle and Logan Couture also scored.

Antti Niemi stopped 29-of-31 shots as San Jose took the first of six scheduled meetings between the Pacific Division rivals this season.

Anze Kopitar added a goal and Jonathan Quick made 34 saves for the Kings, who dropped their fifth straight.
