VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Jeff Larentowicz and Wells Thompson scored in the second half Saturday, rallying the Colorado Rapids to a 2-1 season-ending win over Vancouver.

The Whitecaps grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute when Alain Rochat scored on a free kick that was mishandled by Rapids goalie Matt Pickens.

But the Rapids (12-9-13) stormed back with the equalizer 10 minutes later when Larentowicz managed to slip a free kick past netminder Joe Cannon.

Substitute Thompson handed Colorado the lead after connecting on a long-range strike that deflected off Jay DeMerit and into the Vancouver net.

The playoff-bound Rapids won for only the second time in eight games but assured themselves a hosting a wild-card game with the victory.

Last-place Vancouver finished at 6-18-10 in its inaugural MLS season.
