ATLANTA, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Freddie Freeman's two-run single in the bottom of the ninth Monday rallied the Atlanta Braves to a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over San Francisco.
Trailing 4-2 entering the their final at-bat, the Braves struck for three runs off Giants closer Brian Wilson (6-4) and notched a win in the first of a four-game series.
Jose Constanza (3-for-3) led off with a single, pinch-hitter Eric Hinske followed with a walk and both runners moved up on Michael Bourn's sacrifice. Martin Prado's subsequent RBI single cut the Braves' deficit to one run.
Brian McCann then walked to load the bases and, after Dan Uggla fanned for the second out, Freeman struck a sharp grounder up the middle to drive in the tying and game-winning runs.
The rally made a winner of Cristhian Martinez (1-2), who tossed a scoreless ninth inning after starter Tim Hudson had allowed two earned runs on five hits over eight frames.
Giants starter Madison Bumgarner yielded two runs on eight hits in a seven-inning effort.
Mike Fontenot smacked a solo homer for the Giants, who fell 2 1/2 games behind first-place Arizona in the National League West. The Diamondbacks were idle Monday.
