Stricker on course for 3rd straight Deere

SILVUS, Ill., July 9 (UPI) -- Two-time defending champion Steve Stricker finished three rounds of the John Deere Classic Saturday ahead by two shots after carding an 8-under 63.

Stricker completed 54 holes at 20-under 193, two shots ahead of Brendon de Jonge at the TPC Deere Run.

Stricker made history in last year's Deere Classic, setting a new PGA Tour record for lowest 54-hole score with a 25-under 188. He finished Saturday's round with a strong chance for this third straight victory in the event.

Zimbabwe native de Jonge also shot a 63 and was alone in second place at minus-18.

Chez Reavie, the tourney's second-round leader, managed a 3-under 68 Saturday for sole possession of third at 17-under 196.

Alone in fourth was Kyle Stanley (65) at minus-16.
