MLB: New York Yankees 4, Oakland 2

OAKLAND, Calif., June 1 (UPI) -- Nick Swisher bashed a three-run homer and A.J. Burnett went seven innings Wednesday in the New York Yankees' 4-2 win over Oakland.

The Yankees spotted Oakland an early 2-1 lead but that changed in the fourth inning. Alex Rodriguez singled and Robinson Cano walked to lead off the fourth and Swisher then pounded a 2-0 pitch from Gio Gonzalez (5-3) into the left field stands, putting New York ahead for good.

Burnett (6-3) was solid, holding the A's to two runs on three hits and three walks. He struck out five as the Yankees defeated Oakland for the 10th straight time and swept a three-game set.

Gonzalez ended up allowing four runs on five hits before exiting after 6 1/3 innings.

Josh Willingham belted a two-run homer in the first inning, providing the Oakland's offense.
