ST. LOUIS, May 30 (UPI) -- Andres Torres launched a grand-slam homer and Madison Bumgarner hurled seven strong innings Monday in the San Francisco Giants' 7-3 win over St. Louis.
The Giants broke a tie game open with five runs in the fourth inning. After Cody Ross walked and Aaron Rowand doubled to lead off the frame, Brandon Crawford singled to put San Francisco up 3-2.
Bumgarner then drew a walk to load the bases and Torres drove a 1-0 pitch from Kyle McClellan (6-2) into the right-field stands for a grand slam, and the Giants went on to record only their second win in seven games.
Bumgarner (2-6), who has been plagued by poor run support from his teammates, got plenty Monday and responded by holding the Cardinals to two runs on six hits and two walks over seven frames. He fanned five.
Albert Pujols hit a solo homer and added an RBI single for St. Louis, which dropped the first of a four-game series at Busch Stadium.
