MLB: New York Yankees 4, Texas 1

ARLINGTON, Texas, May 6 (UPI) -- Curtis Granderson drove in three runs with a pair of homers Friday in sending the New York Yankees to a 4-1 win over Texas.

Ivan Nova (3-2) allowed only an unearned run in 7 1/3 innings while helping New York end a three-game losing streak. Mariano Rivera worked the ninth for his 12th save.

The Rangers lost for the seventh time in nine games and starter Matt Harrison suffered his fourth straight setback.

Granderson hit a two-run homer in the first and a solo shot in the seventh. A throwing error by Harrison in the second led to an unearned New York run.

Harrison (3-4) gave up three runs on four hits with five walks in six innings.

Derek Jeter, who sat out New York's loss in Detroit Thursday with a sore right hip, opened the game with a single and scored in front of Granderson's homer.

Jeter played in his 2,302nd career game at shortstop, equaling the major league record for most games played at that position for the same team. The record was previously held by Baltimore's Cal Ripken.
