PHOENIX, May 4 (UPI) -- Justin Upton's eighth-inning solo home run lifted the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 4-3 win over Colorado Tuesday.
Upton got the green light on a 3-0 pitch from reliever Felipe Paulino (0-1) and sent it into the right field seats to snap a 3-3 tie and give the Diamondbacks their fifth win in their last eight starts.
Henry Blanco also had a solo shot and Xavier Nady drove in two runs for the Diamondbacks. Blanco's homer came in a three-run third that staked Arizona to a 3-1 lead.
Colorado came back with single runs in the fourth and fifth to tie the score and set the stage for Upton's heroics.
David Hernandez (1-0) was the winner in relief and J.J. Putz sealed it in the ninth for his seventh save.
The Rockies, who have lost three of their last four, got an RBI apiece from Carlos Gonzalez and Jonathan Herrera. Gonzalez stroked his second home run of the season.
