NHL: San Jose 4, Phoenix 1

GLENDALE, Ariz., March 27 (UPI) -- Logan Couture had two goals and an assist Saturday, lifting the San Jose Sharks to a 4-1 win over Phoenix in a battle of Western Conference leaders.

Ryane Clowe had a goal and two helpers as the Sharks improved their advantage over Phoenix atop the Pacific Division to four points.

Joe Pavelski also scored and Antti Niemi made 26 saves for San Jose, which won for the fifth time in six games and drew even with Detroit for third place in the Western Conference with 97 points.

The Coyotes, who hold the fourth seed in the West, got their lone goal from Mikkel Boedker and Ilya Bryzgalov made 28 saves.
